Abstract/Contents: | "Sucrose (0.01-1 M) and 13 other naturally occurring sugars (0.1 M) were evaluated on cellulose acetate-cellulose nitrate membrane filter disks as feeding stimulants for larvae (third in star) of the Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica Newman. Five sugarssucrose, maltose, fructose, glucose, and trehalosestimulated larval feeding. All of these, with the exception of trehalose, had previously been shown to be strong phagostimulants for adult beetles." |
