| Abstract/Contents: | "The use of adhesive mixtures applied to stiff yellow paper and secured on stakes placed near the area of floral initiation of various grass species provides an excellent procedure for collecting many small insects otherwise difficult to sample. The specimens are easily removed in good condition by washing the insects from the adhesive mixture with alcohol. Many of the insects collected by these traps are seldom taken by usual procedures and more than 30% of those sent to the U.S. National Museum were unrecognized species, not identifiable. Ten percent represented unrecognized genera. The included collection records indicate the size and complexity of the fauna sampled." |
