Abstract/Contents: | Briefly discusses the distinction between weed eradication and preventing weed invasion. Features the lawn of A. D. Arter in Birmingham, England where "weeds had colonised [colonized] 70% of the turf." Explains that a mixture was made to kill the weeds and that "care was also taken to include a further specification for maintaining the fine grasses after the weeds had been eradicated." Indicates the possible importance of not overlooking the second procedure, suggesting that "the same mixture cannot be used for destroying weeds and maintaining fine turf grasses." |
