Abstract/Contents: | Discusses potentially appropriate methods of turf management, suggesting that "every modern greenkeeper should be able to carry out structural alterations." Mentions that "greens should be treated on a rotational basis, lifting and re-laying two or three greens each year." Gives advice on how to lift turf and apply a fertilizer. Recommends special attention be given to the teeing grounds, adding that that if maintenance procedures are carefully followed, "dry and level teeing grounds can be maintained throughout the year." Suggests that "the character of any new feature should always be determined by the surrounding land" and that "new features must be pleasant to the eye as well as add interest to the game." Concludes that "greenkeepers could raise the status of their job tremendously by becoming proficient in constructional work." |
