Abstract/Contents: | Briefly addresses an article entitled The Influence of Design on Greenkeeping which advocated for "bigger putting greens to meet the high standard of excellence demanded by present day golfers." Explains the possible difficulty in maintaining a healthy turf on small putting greens, adding that "the amount of money spent annually on construction and upkeep of golf courses is as a rule totally inadequate to admit of a high standard of excellence being maintained." Suggests that good putting surfaces may be obtained by adopting "the double-green principle for each hole," indicating that this method may allow for half of the green to rest "for a couple of months every three months or so." |
