Abstract/Contents: | Presents a question on establishing a bluegrass variety on a soccer field, highlighting the concern that "the durability and drought tolerance benefits [of tall fescue] are lost because we cannot allow it sufficient time to establish." Addresses the question with answers from three agronomists, with the first suggesting that tall fescue does not take long to establish, adding that "tall fescue is much closer to ryegrass in establishment time than it is to bluegrass, which is much slower to establish." Continues with the second agronomist agreeing with the first, but adding that "under a very short timetable (weeks) between overseeding/renovation and use of the field the advantage goes to perennial ryegrass in terms of durable turf cover." Concludes with the third agronomist disagreeing that tall fescue is better than ryegrass in terms of establishment. |
