Abstract/Contents:Briefly discusses the evolution and life cycle of turf, stating that "from late spring thru [through] later summer the sole purpose of turf is to reproduce." Describes the growth habit of turf, explaining that "[it reproduces] through the production of seedheads...This is why top growth is so vigorous." Details the effect of cold weather on the turf plant, and provides recommendations for seasonal fertilization. Explains that "supplemental fertilization should be utilized to enhance rather than to interfere with the natural growth tendencies of the plant."
