| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses spring maintenance for an irrigation system after winterization. Suggests that "the first step to starting an irrigation system is to inspect the entire point of connection for any visual problems," including checking "the meter, valves, service lines, and backflow preventer." Indicates that after ensuring that there is no damage to the system, the water may be slowly turned on. Recommends ensuring that there are no "unusual conditions [such as] sprinklers not popping up, sprinklers not rotating." Advises conducting an electrical inspection "to help ensure that the control system is ready for operation." Concludes that "a good practice throughout the season should be to perform inspections periodically to catch minor problems before they become major ones." |
