Abstract/Contents:Presents part one of an article on sports field irrigation audits, explaining that they might assist sports field managers in ascertaining "how frequently and how long to irrigate." Lists potentially necessary tools for conducting an irrigation audit. Notes that "the audit can be performed with both in-ground and portable above-ground systems." Details steps for conducting the audit, advising that "the test requires data collection from the field as well as information found on the internet, books, and even from the irrigation systems manufacturer." Provides equations for determining gross precipitation, net precipitation rate, irrigation application efficiency, and lower quarter distribution uniformity.
