Abstract/Contents:Presents a progress report on ground pearl (Margarodes meridonalis) control in Arizona during 1969-70. Summarizes studies that had been conducted prior to 1970, concluding that "at the start of the 1970 growing season, the [ground pearl] population was approximately 60% lower...[this] was probably caused by the destruction of Tifgreen plants from the feeding of immature ground pearls." Highlights the dependence of ground pearl abundance on soil moisture levels, citing a study that found that watering practices "[could] influence the rate of destruction caused by ground pearls." Mentions several studies concerning ground pearl control on yards, in greenhouses, and golf greens, outlining their procedures and results. Provides four tables that illustrate the outcomes of these experiments in greater detail.
