Abstract/Contents:Presents a study initiated in 2008 to "(1) determine the effect of date of aeration on recovery time [for creeping bentgrass greens]," and "(2) establish whether black sand topdressing can enhance recovery." Details methods and materials used during the experiment, noting that "tan sand topdressing treatments were applied at 40,000 kg/ha [kilograms per hectare]." Reports that "the fastest recovery time ranged from 10 to 18 days and occurred at the June 15, July 1, or August 15, 2008 aeration dates and at six dates between May 15 and September 15 [of] 2009." Concludes that "black sand was able to reduce the number of days to recovery in the late fall," and that "black sand resulted in increased quality and color in the spring and fall."
