| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of three insecticides for control of red imported fire ant (RIFA) on hybrid bermudagrass. Details pre-treatment method of collection as baiting with hotdog pieces in vials as well as monitoring soil and air temperature. Notes applications of TopChoice and Talstar were sand mixed and gloved hand applicated, while Amdro was applied without sand. Reports that plots were baited one week after treatment (WAT), two, four and eight WAT and that ants were taken to the lab, frozen, then counted. Concludes that untreated plots had abundant RIFA throughout the trial, TopChoice had reductions except at eight WAT, plots treated with Amdro was only significant at one WAT and Talstar was only significant at two WAT. |
