| Abstract/Contents: | Focuses on factors that contributed to the development of the Trueness Meter. Addresses the factors that "influence the behaviour [behavior] of the ball as it is chipped or bounces onto a green following an approach shot." Adds that "a final version...[was] developed which was lighter, had better waterproofing, and was easier to operate and transport." Includes photographs which illustrate the physical characteristics of the meter, and provides the factors which "influence both vertical and lateral deviation during ball roll." Adds that "the Trueness Meter is capable of detecting very small changes in surface smoothness and trueness." Concludes that "the testing that has been carried out has shown that the equipment is capable of detecting the minute changes...that affect both the vertical and lateral movement of a ball as it rolls across the turf." |
