Abstract/Contents:Addresses the concern that too many chemicals are used when preemergence herbicides are applied to a bermudagrass turf at recommended rates for more than one year. Discusses a study that shows that "preemergence herbicide rates can be reduced during the second and third years and still maintain effective crabgrass and goosegrass control." Describes the procedure including the types of herbicides used and the recommended herbicide rate. Presents the results of the survey and recommends reduced herbicide use rates that will still provide effective weed, crabgrass, and goosegrass control.
