| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses heterobasidion root disease, stating that it "is among the greatest causes of damage to conifer forests throughout the world." Lists the disease's symptoms, adding that "identification of heterobasidion pathogens requires recognition of fungal fruiting bodies or culture and microscopic examination." Addresses preventative methods against heterobasidion root disease and suggests using Sporac and Cellu-Treat pesticides as control methods. Describes the characteristics of Sporax and Cellu-Treat, recommending that "care should taken to minimize application to areas other than the stump." Advises that "if Heterobasidion root disease already has become established, thorough removal of stumps and roots should be considered." |
