| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses dollar spot resistance to Demethylation-inhibiting (DMI) fungicides and information acquired on the subject at a meeting in Hartford, Connecticut. Explains that the meeting was held in order to "give researchers an idea of the current research being done [in 2010] and have an opportunity to discuss how to handle DMI resistance in the future." Provides basic information regarding what constitutes a DMI fungicide, stating that "these fungicides prevent ergosterol biosynthesis, a critical component of a fungal cell wall." Overviews information and suggestions for resistance provided by the speakers. Includes information such as "the level of DMI resistance can be delayed or maintained by increasing rates and shortening intervals between sprays." Adds that research is being conducted in order to identify "the genes responsible for DMI resistance in the dollar spot fungus." Suggests that "it is imperative to practice tank mixing DMIs with a multi-site inhibitor such a chlorothalonil or mancozeb or rotate to a different mode of action." |
