Abstract/Contents:Discusses whether there is value in rating golf courses independently or ranking them against one another. Suggests that "ratings and rankings are intended to provide specific measures, standards that provide comparison." Advises that although "the average golfer accepts rankings as objective determinations...they are not." Compares golf course ratings to those of restaurants, stating that "each dining experience is unique; menus are different and ambiance is distinctive. As a result, experiences cannot be compared." Emphasizes the potential importance of meaningfulness, value, and authenticity toward gauging the enjoyability of a golfing experience.
