Abstract/Contents:Discusses the potential usefulness of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) on golf courses. Provides a brief anecdote in which a man underwent sudden cardiac arrest on a golf green, but was revived on the scene by means of chest comperssions and an AED. Reports that "surviving sudden cardiac arrest...is often dependent on how fast a patient is defibrillated. For each minute a patient is in arrest, the chance of survival decreases by about 10 percent." Suggests "[to] invest in one or more AEDs for your facility, make sure everyone is trained on them, and make sure that everyone knows their permanent location."
