Abstract/Contents:"This evaluation was conducted at the OJ Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility in Verona, WI on a creeping bentgrass putting green maintained at 0.140 in. grown on a 70:30 sand-soil rootzone. Individual plots measured 3 ft x 5 ft and were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Individual treatments were applied at a nozzle pressure of 40 psi using a CO2-pressurized boom sprayer equipped with two XR Teejet 8004 VS nozzles. All fungicides were agitated by hand and applied in the equivalent of 2 gal water per 1,000 ft2. All treatments were initiated 25 May, and subsequent applications were made at 14 day intervals. Natural infection was allowed to occur. The number of dollar spot infection centers per plot and turf quality were visually assessed weekly from Jun until Sep. Data from 28 Jun, 8 Jul, 19 Aug, and 6 Aug are presented. Data were subjected to an analysis of variance, and means were separated using the Waller-Duncan test (P = 0.05). Dollar spot pressure was extremely high in 2010, with the mean number of dollar spot infection centers on non treated controls surpassing 250 per plot in all three rating dates presented. All treatments provided significant reductions in dollar spot compared with the non-treated control over all rating dates except for Renown and Daconil Ultrex on 19 Aug. Those treatments containing boscalid (Honor and Emerald) were the most effective during the most intense disease pressure on 19 Aug. As disease progressed through the summer most treatments failed to provide acceptable turf quality (6 or higher). Only treatments including boscalid provided acceptable turfgrass quality during on the 6 Aug rating date."
