| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the opposition of the Sports Field Managers Association of New Jersey (SFMANJ) to the "Safe Playing Fields Act," a proposed senate bill that would potentially ban pesticide use on athletic fields in New Jersey. Notes that the organization opposes the bill on the basis of three factors: safety, integrated pest management (IPM) laws already in place, and financial constraints. Reports that "several of our members have attended meetings with legislators, written letters and testified at hearings...[Our Board of Directors] agreed unanimously to make a $1,000 contribution to NJGIC [New Jersey Green Industry Council] with the stipulation that the contribution be used to help offset operating expenses." |
