| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a testimony by Rich Watson, a New Jersey grounds supervisor, in opposition to the New Jersey Senate's proposed "Safe Playing Fields Act," which could potentially ban all pesticide use on New Jersey athletic fields. Suggests that integrated pest management (IPM) programs already in place at New Jersey school districts are sufficient, and notes that many organic and biological treatment alternatives are too expensive and not cost effective for schools. States that "the bottom line is we run a well rounded turf program in Pine Hill. The charge that schools are needlessly using lawn pesticides does not apply in our district." |
