Abstract/Contents:Briefly discusses research conducted at Rutgers University to evaluate "the effects of TUDCA [tauroursodeoxycholic acid] and PBA [sodium 4-phenylbutyrate] on turfgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) growth behavior under drought and heat conditions." Explains the phenomenon of programmed cell death, suggesting the involvement of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum in its activation. Concludes that "stress tolerance in plants can be modulated by chemical control through modulation of the ER stress pathway, which provides an approach to improve turf quality under most environmental stress conditions."
