| Abstract/Contents: | Tested phytotoxicity of glyphosate - treated bunker sands applied to bermudagrass turf and evaluated glyphosate control of common bermudagrass and purple nutsedge in bunkers. [#1]. Beach sand was composed of finely ground coral and broken seashells, had a pH of 8.5, and was 98% CaCO3. The silical Sand was not analyzed [#2]. Bunkers evaluated for common bermudagrass and purple nut sedge control received glyphosate [#3] and is presented in a table with significant differences indicated. None of the glyphosate treatments in either sand produced turf phytotoxicity. This was probably due to inactivation of glyphosate by calcium binding. Phytotoxicity could occur if sands low in calcium were used. [#4], [#5] |
