| Abstract/Contents: | Investigated low-maintenance, non-irrigated performance of 84 Kentucky Bluegrass cultivars under conditions that would be used in parks, school yards, and other low-maintenance areas. Trial is part of the United States Department of Agriculture northern regional Kentucky Bluegrass cultivar trials. Cultivars, replicated 3 times, were established in 1980, received 1 pound nitrogen/1000 sq. ft./yr. in September, and are not irrigated. Monthly quality ratings with the 1988 average are presented in a table with the least significant difference value. Drought devastation limited data collection to May, June, and August and resulted in poor quality for all varieties with Vantage, Parade, Kenblue, and Asgyle receiving top rankings. The turf was terminated in late August and will not be rated in future years. |
