Abstract/Contents:Presents breeding research conducted on "1) creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera), which is the premier grass species used for golf course putting greens and fairways...and 2) perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne, which is the most ideal turf species for golf course fairways and home lawns ...[in order] to improve turfgrass cultivars with resistance to multiple diseases." Reports that, for perennial ryegrass, "we identified several DNA [deoxyribonucleic acid] markers linked to the disease resistances, which will facilitate more efficient selection of disease resistant plants."
