| Abstract/Contents: | Trial to evaluate 21 chemical treatments for efficacy and phytotoxicity in control of grey snow mold. Applications on 10/27/88, to a bentgrass nursery, in 2 gallons H2O/1000ft2 with 4 replications in a randomized complete block design. Data taken 4/11/89 by estimating % of turf area affected by disease in each plot. The following formulation and their rate provided over 95% control of grey snow mold (probably Typhula canadensis var. ishikariensis): Banner 1. 1E at 4 fl oz/1000ft2 (m), Caloclor at 4 fl oz/m, Cleary's PMAS + Terraclor 75W at 2 + 4 fl oz/m, Cleary's PMAS + Terraclor 75W + Clearspray at 2 + 4 + 6 fl oz/m, HWG 1608 1.2E at 3.33 fl oz/m, KIA523 IOW + X-77 at 80g + 3.8ml, Spotless 25W at 1.6 oz, Spotless 25W at 3.30 oz, Terraclor 75W at 4 oz, Terraclor 75W + Clearspray at 4 oz + 6 fl oz, CGA 453 1.25E at 4 fl oz, Ro 14-3169 6.25E at 2 fl oz, Chipco 26019F + Daconic F 8 + 8 fl oz. Ten remaining entries with > 5% infection are not expected to show much usefulness in Wisconsin. The fungus Athelia was included in a separate trial as a possible biological control agent and was not found to be effective. Moderate to severe phytotoxicity was apparent wherever PMAS was included at 2 oz/m. "Less objectionable, but modest yellowing and leaf tipburn was noticed with three of four Caloclor replications." |
