Abstract/Contents:Trial examined 7 fungicides, including Rubigan (which has not been previously examined intensively) using various rates and schedules for Helminthosporium control in 1989. Plots established on 4 yr old Park Kentucky bluegrass with a history of significant Helminthosporium activity. Treatments, applied in 4 reps, were: 1) Chipco 26019 2F at 2.0 fl oz/1000ft2 (m) on 5/11 and 5/25 or at 4.0 fl oz/m on 5/11, 2) Banner at 3.0 fl oz/m on 5/11 and 5/25, 3) Rubigan 1 AS at 1.75 or 3.5 fl oz/m on 5/11 and 5/25, 4) SDS 66608F at 5 oz/m on 5/11 and 6/8, 5) Daconil 2787F at 6.0 fl oz/m 5/11 and 6/8, 6) Ro 40663725W at 0.4 or 1.2 oz/m on 5/11 and 5/25, 7) San 619 40WG at 1/6 oz/m on 5/11 and 5/25, and 8) no treatment. Low disease incidence required counting infected leaves in random samples, rather than visual ratings to determine differences among treatments. Ratings were taken on 5/30 and 6/14. Chipco 26019 was most active with Banner (Sterol inhibitor type fungicide) also displaying unique activity against Helminthosporium. Daconil did not appear to have 4 week residual efficacy.
