| Abstract/Contents: | "This paper presents recommendations for scheduling and operating small irrigation systems. Although focusing mostly on hose-and-sprinkler systems, recommendations given apply equally as well to solid set systems on timers or with sensor feedback. Recommendations are given for sprinkler distibution, and a simple procedure for estimating the expected maximum time interval between rainfall or irrigation of turf at different locations in Florida and time of year is presented. Also, a method for the estimation of irrigation application depth is presented. This method accounts for different soils and root depths. The analysis is based on Penman evapotranspiration calculated from long term climatic records and a simple soil water balance." |
