Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes use of native grasses for utility turf in midwestern and western United States. Emphasis is on native grass species optimal for roadside uses but also includes native species used in landscaping. Included is a discussion of advantages of native grasses for each situation including environmental protection, drought tolerance, less chemical inputs, and low maintenance. Also, gives information on state government expenditures for native grass seed in several states and suggests there is opportunity in the native grass seed market. |
