| Abstract/Contents: | "The experiment was conducted on the Turfgrass Research Plots at the Horticulture Research Station of Iowa State University near Ames, IA. The plot was maintained at 5/32 in cutting height and received conventional care. Fungicides were applied to 4 ft x 5 ft plots using a modified bicycle sprayer at 30 psi and a dilution rate of 5 gal/1000 sq ft. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications. Treated plots were alternated with untreated plots to minimize interplot interference. Plots were artificially inoculated with an eight-isolate mixture of Lanzia spp. and Moellerodiscus spp. (grown on autoclaved rye) on 30 May to supplement natural infection. Preventative treatments began on 5 Jun and were repeated on 15 and 29 Jun and 13 and 26 Jul, depending upon the application interval specified. Curative treatments were begun on 29 Jun. The number of dollar spot infection centers per plot was counted on 29 Jun and 13 and 26 Jul. Dollar spot symptoms began to appear on 27 Jun. Disease development was moderate to severe on 29 Jun and severe on 13 and 26 Jul. All preventative treatments suppressed dollar spot development significantly better than the unsprayed control. All the curative treatments had significantly fewer dollar spot infection centers per plot than the control on 13 and 26 Jul." |
