Abstract/Contents:"Fungicide treatments were evaluated on an experimental green at Purdue University. The turf area received conventional golf course green care and was maintained at 0.3 in height. Treatments were applied to 3.3 X 6.6 ft plots arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Treatments were applied with a hand held CO-2 pressurized sprayer with 11003 Lp flat fan nozzles at 22 psi and at a rate of 2 gal/1000 sq ft. Treatments with a 14 day spray interval were applied on 31 May, 15 and 28 Jun and 13 Jul. Treatments with a 21 day spray interval were applied on 31 May, 21 Jun and 13 Jul. Treatments with a 28 day spray interval were applied on 31 May and 28 Jun. Disease ratings were made on 6, 12, 22, 28 Jun and 7 Jul. Temperatures and humidity were near normal during the test period, with rainfall above normal in May and Jun and near normal in Jul and Aug. Dollar spot first appeared in the plot area on 1 Jun, the day after the first fungicide applications were made. The disease continued to develop in intensity until 22 Jun at which time dollar spot was extremely severe throughout the test area. Disease severity declined after 22 Jun. Among the experimental fungicides tested, only ACR 7121 gave excellent control of dollar spot. Among the labeled fungicides tested, only Banner, Chipco 26019 + Pace + Daconil 2787 tank mix and Cleary's 3336 + Spotrete tank mix gave good to excellent control under the severe disease conditions of this test. Cleary's 3336 gave moderately good control and Tersan 1991 gave moderate control. At the fungicide rates and application intervals tested, Chicop 26019, Daconil 2787 and Dyrene did not give satisfactory control for a golf course green. Certain treatments with EXP 10069, EXP 10072, Flutolanil, MON 24077, Pace and SDS 66608 actually had significantly more dollar spot infection centers than the untreated controls on some rating dates. Severe and light phytotoxicity were observed with BASF 480F at 0.37 and 0.18 oz rates, respectively."
