Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were applied to two Penncross creeping bentgrass tees that were seeded in fall, 1975. Soil at both sites was a sandy loam with a pH of about 6.2. The well water used to irrigate the turf had a pH of 8.2. The fungicides were applied with a CO2 pressurized (40 psi) sprayer in 2.5 gal. water per 1000 ft2 on 6 Oct and 3 Nov 1983 (no symptoms apparent), and on 26 Apr 1984 (symptoms beginning to appear). Plots were 5 by 10 ft, and arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area injured by take-all was determined visually on a 0 to 100% scale. Because of the erratic development of diseased patches, which contributed greatly to experimental error, the level of take-all severity within patches was assessed visually on the 0 to 5 scale described in the data table. All data were recorded 15 Jun 1984, but there was little consistency in take-all control among fungicides at both sites. On Tee-2, Bayleton had reduced the area affected by take-all significantly, and all fungicides except Banner had reduced take-all severity of individual patches. Bayleton had provided the best level of take-all control on Tee-2. However, on Tee-16 none of the fungicides significantly reduced the area affected by take-all, and only Rubigan had reduced take-all severity. Hence, only Rubigan had significantly reduced take-all severity of individual patches on both tees. There was, however, a non-significant trend for a reduction in take-all on both tees with PMAS."
