Abstract/Contents:"This experiment was performed at the Penn State Landscape Management Research Center, University Park, PA, on a mixed stand of Citation II, Birdie II, and Omega II perennial ryegrass, maintained under home lawn/golf course fairway management conditions. Fertilizer was applied to the test area as follows: 0.5 lb N per 1000 sq ft (NH4NO3) was applied on 4 and 18 May and, on 16 June, the test area was verticut and 1.5 lb N per 1000 sq ft (NH4SO4) was applied. On 10 Jul, Subdue 5G at 10 oz/1000 ft sq was applied for preventive control of Pythium blight. The experimental area was irrigated with a 1 inch daily total, applied equally at 1400, 1600, and 1800 hts. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replications. Individual plots were 3 ft x 15 ft. Fungicides were applied with a CO2-powered boom sprayer, using T-jet 8004 nozzles, at 30 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. granular formulations were hand-scattered from a shaker-top jar. Fungicides were applied on 13 and 29 Jun, 11 and 26 Jul, and 8 Aug, except as noted in the table. Treatments were visually evaluated on 8 Aug. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Waller-Duncan K-ration t test. Twenty-three of the 29 treatments demonstrated a significant amount of dollar spot control, relative to the untreated check. Areas treated with ProStar showed a significantly greater amount of disease injury than the check plots. Turfgrass in areas treated with Banner was stunted and showed dark green to bronze foliar discoloration. Turfgrass in areas treated with San 619F and SAN 832F was stunted and dark green in color."
