| Abstract/Contents: | "The experiment was conducted in a 1-yr-old stand of tall fescue varieties on a commercial sod farm near Louisburg, NC where brown patch had been a problem the previous year. The fungicides were applied with a CO2 backpack sprayer in 2.5 gal water/1000 sq ft. All treatments were applied on 7 Jun and 12 Jul, and the 14 day treatments applied again on 26 Jul. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications; plots were 5 ft wide by 10 ft long. All cultural practices were carried out by the sod farm manager. The summer was hot and unusually wet. Disease severity was rated every 7 days; disease pressure was severe. On 19 Jul % brown patch (BP) of all treatments except RH 3866 40W at .10 oz ai, Rubigan 1AS at .087 and .174 oz ai, and Lynx 25DF at .25 oz ai were significantly less than the control. On 26 Jul, BP of all treatments except Rubigan 1AS at .087 oz ai was significantly less than the control. On 2 Aug, BP and turf quality (TQ) in all treatments were significantly better than the control; whereas turf color (TC) was not. No phytotoxicity was observed in any treatment." |
