Abstract/Contents:Astro Turf, Tartan Turf, Poly Turf and natural grass football fields were studied to determine the effects of these surfaces on (1) player speed, (2) impact energy absorption, and (3) shoe traction. Results are presented and discussed. Overall, artificial turf reduced player speed, absorbed less energy, and provided more traction.
