Abstract/Contents: | "Due to various morphological and physiological characteristics the Holcus species, in particular the Holcus lanatus, are unwelcome species in turf. Since there is no way to control them sufficiently by chemicals, there is only the possibility, through the proper knowledge of even small differences in the ecological requirements, to influence the composition of the population. Possibilities are, for example, early but not intensive clipping, rolling, verticulation and, if at all, application of great quantities of fertilizer, sufficient liming and as ultima ratio, ploughing up." |
