| Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes research presented at the 2010 University of Connecticut Field Day, conducted to: "1) evaluate the effects of vehicle traffic on soil physical properties and turfgrass quality when protected by various portable roadway systems, 2) determine the impact of each cover system on turfgrass health (turfgrass cover, color, disease incidence) when used for multiple cover periods, and 3) document changes in playing surface characteristics (surface hardness, traction) following each cover period." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "all treatments will be subjected to two traffic events consisting of 10 passes of vehicle traffic with a gross vehicle weight rating of 20,000 lbs [pounds]." Concludes that "final results will be reported in December 2011." |
