Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes research presented at the 2010 University of Connecticut (UCONN) Field Day, conducted "to evaluate the ASNT [amino sugar soil nitrogen test] for turf and to determine if this test has potential for use in guiding N [nitrogen] fertilization management in turf." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "mineral fertilizer treatments were included so that response of the compost treatments could be matched to that of the mineral N rate." Reports that "preliminary results suggest that soil concentrations of amino-sugar N and active C [carbon] may be useful in predicting turf quality response and guiding N fertilization rates." Concludes that "further details about this experiment may be obtained from the 2009 Annual UCONN Turfgrass Research Report." |
