Abstract/Contents: Presents a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst "to evaluate the effect of different fungicide spray schedule options on the selection of thiophanate-methyl-resistant isolates in the population." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "the fungicide schedule options consisted of repeated, rotational and tank-mix applications of thiophanate-methyl with two specific-site fungicides, propiconazole and iprodione...which were used in the rotation and tank-mixture application." Reports that "results indicated that repeated applications of the same specific-site fungicide (thiophanate-methyl, for example) rapidly selected the thiophanate-methyl-resistant population." Concludes that, "overall, rotating fungicide chemistries showed to be more effective than tank-mixing." Includes a table detailing fungicide combinations and application schedules.
