| Abstract/Contents: | Reports on a study conducted to evaluate alternative control methods for annual bluegrass weevils, suggesting that the insect may be developing a resistance to pyrethroid insecticides. Reports that "two promising insecticides are under development...Indoxacarb (ProvauntTM) received federal registration in 2007 and chlorantraniliprole (AcelprynTM) just received federal legislation in April 2008." Mentions the application of four insecticides at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarboro, New York to test efficacy against annual bluegrass weevils, and states that "all the ProvauntTM treatments and all but the lowest rate of the AcelprynTM were significantly better than the ArenaTM treatments." Includes a table detailing treatment products and application schedules. |
