| Abstract/Contents: | "Nutrient analyses of a sand golf green rootzone which received varying rates of applications of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertiliser, with and without lime, are presented. Rootzone sand was analysed for pH, phosphate and potassium content in April and October, and organic matter in April. Rootzone pH fell markedly with increasing nitrogen regime in limed plots but remained low, and relatively constant, in unlimed plots. Potassium content was higher in October than in April and fell with increasing nitrogen regime in limed plots. Increasing levels of phosphorus fertiliser significantly reduced potassium content in limed plots and organic matter content was lower in limed plots. Increasing nitrogen regime induced a decrease in both potassium and phosphorus levels." |
