Abstract/Contents:Presents research conducted at the University of Georgia "to compare water saving from a soil sensor and a Rain Guard to override the controlled in an automatic system with a set program." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "the control was a set program that irrigated regardless of weather." Reports that "from June 8 until Sept. [September] 11, 1987, the soil sensor and rain guard resulted in 85 and 38% [percent] water savings compared to the twice per week irrigation of a set program."
