Abstract/Contents: | Presents preliminary findings from research conducted at the University of Georgia on "the long term effects of nitrogen sources on the rooting patterns and metabolism of creeping bentgrass." Reports that "we found that NH4 (urea) significantly (two-fold) reduced Penncross rooting (weight and length) when compared to nitrate forms of nitrogen applied at the same rates." States that "laboratory and greenhouse studies will be initiated to determine the effects of ammonium and nitrate nitrogen sources on the metabolism and physiology of creeping bentgrass." |
