Abstract/Contents:Presents research conducted "to determine the susceptibility of resistance to the bermudagrass mite of many of the newer commercial cultivars and the experimental hybrids from the bermudagrass breeding program at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "the infested trays were placed around the experiment to provide adequate mite inoculum for the grasses and to put mites in position to disperse readily across the test plantings." Reports that "a wide range of susceptibility to bermudagrass mite was recorded among the bermudagrass cultivars and genotypes evaluated." Concludes that "some of the cultivars may have avoided heavier infestation because they were infested late in the study. Likewise, some of the cultivars may have been only lightly infested during the test period but would have expressed more damage with additional time and exposure."
