| Abstract/Contents: | Introduces Precision Turfgrass Management (PTM), "a new concept for the turfgrass industry...based on the same principles as Precision Agriculture," and includes an overview of PTM foundational principles. States that "an evident application of the scientific methods and protocols of PTM to sports fields would be performance testing, the determination of key surface conditions for various purposes." Provides a set of parameters for performance testing of sports fields, listing information regarding soil profile, turfgrass cover, and two phases of an irrigation water audit. Summarizes research priorities and findings on surface standards beginning in the 1980's, focusing on soil moisture and water audits. Concludes that "performance testing on sports fields can be significantly advanced by using PTM concepts and technology." |
