Abstract/Contents:States that "every sports development in the UK [United Kingdom] is subject to Evironmental Impacts Assessment (EIA) legislation designed to identify likely environmental effects (both negative and positive) of the development and to reduce any negative impacts." Details the four step process of an EIA, including: screening, scoping, the production of an Environmental statement, and the final decision on the development proposal. Mentions that "before development proposals are submitted to the local planning authority, an ecological consultant can advise as to whether an EIA is likely, allowing the true cost of the development to be accurately assessed."
