Abstract/Contents:Provides a response from Gale L. Love to a previous Thru the Green article pertaining "to where he [Ken Williams] takes a shot at the PGA [Professional Golfers Association] Tour wearing steel spikes." Suggests that professional golfers require spiked shoes because they participate in athletic contests. Mentions a study conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) on putting surfaces and various golf shoes, and states that "if the USGA were really honest about this they would change their motto from 'For The Good of the Game' to For the Good of the Clubhouse Carpets."
