Abstract/Contents:"In the trial two tall fescue cultivars, i. e. Colarato and Matador were used as the materials, and plant growth accelerator cytokinin (KT) and plant growth inhibitor abscisic acid (ABA) were leaf-surface sprayed, to study the effects of PGRs treatments on plant height, tillering and heat tolerance of turfgrass. The main results were as follows: both ABA and KT showed the positive influence in reduction of plant height and enhancing heat tolerance; in case of tillering, ABA had obviously stimulating effect for the cultivar (Matador) with strong tillering, but showed the inhibited effect for the cultivar (Colarato) with weak tillering; both ABA and KT significantly reduced plant height, particularly for the cultivar Colarato with higher plant height; both ABA and KT enhanced heat tolerance of two turfgrasses, with ABA having better effect. Spraying ABA and KT is the suitable practice for improving heat tolerance and over summering of turfgrass."
