Abstract/Contents:The vegetation on ski runs is subject to intense and unnatural wear and special measures are needed to bring about plant recovery during the summer. The fungal mycelium used was the end product of fermentation of a hyphomycete. It contained 80% organic matter and 20% ash, including 5.4% N (present in slow-release form), 1.9% P2O5, 1.0% K2O, 6.3% CaO and 0.2% Mg. Trials conducted on igneous and calcareous rocks showed that repeated fertilizer applications were needed for lasting success. Where conditions were favorable, good results were obtained with both mineral fertilizers or fungal mycelium; in extreme conditions the fungal mycelium gave appreciably better results. The more extreme the conditions, the more necessary was the annual application of a fertilizer.
