Abstract/Contents: | Wawona golf course is situated within Yosemite National Park boundaries. In 1917 Clarence Washburn added many condiments to the attraction of Wawona complex, including a golf course. Walter C. Fovargue designed the Wawona course. However, in 1932, Washburn sold the Wawona complex to the U.S. Government. The course remains almost unchanged, today. Park service guidelines prohibit trees being cut down and chemical controls of any kind being used. The greenkeepers method of keeping a good course includes a minimal amount of thatch, and effluent water to irrigate. People are very likely to hear: "This is one gem of a course." |
